This Week In CloseBrace - 9/1/17

We're back with another weekly update. Got plenty done this week, so let's dive right in!

I posted two new tutorials this week. First came Five Minute React 47 - Wiring Up Log-In Part 3, which details how to create Redux actions and reducers in order to synch user logins up with app state. Then there was Five Minute React 48 - Displaying User Information, in which we connect our components to the app state so that we can display things like the logged-in user's name. We also finally turn our incrementing number into an actual spinner! Next week we'll cover component lifecycle methods in Five Minute React 49 and then build a log-out routine in Five Minute React 50.

In addition to posting tutorials, I wrote, recorded, and edited two new tutorials this week, so I remain three ahead of schedule, which is a comfortable buffer. On Wednesday, I also finished up and posted An Introduction to MusicList, an article that gives an explanation of what exactly it is we're building in the Five Minute React series, and how the series works.

It wasn't all writing and video recording this week. I also found time to get a bunch of small coding tasks done and pushed out to the live site. I improved some stuff relating to how CloseBrace talks to Stripe for CloseBrace Pro, as well as pushing the in-line code fix I mentioned last week live. I also started writing code that will help me deploy future content that is available only for Pro members, either indefinitely or at least for a time. I want to make those memberships valuable!

That's it for this week. I'm taking Monday off for Labor Day, but I'll be posting tutorials on Tuesday and Thursday as usual next week. If you're in the US, have a great long weekend. If you're not, have a great regular weekend!
