I've decided the time has come to close down this blog. The simple fact is: it takes a chunk of my time every Friday to update it, it generates virtually no traffic for CloseBrace, and I think my time would be better spent working on tutorials, the site, etc. That kind of work provides a lot more value to CloseBrace's readers.
If I'm wrong, and there's a gigantic audience looking for development updates, then definitely get in touch and let me know ... but I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong. To those who do follow this blog, I'll still be giving a brief update on what I did each week at the beginning of my weekly newsletter, which you should totally sign up for!
We'll still go ahead with this final update. This week, I released JS Quick Hits 16 - DOM Query Selectors, in which we cover
document.querySelectorAll and talk about how they can be used to help phase jQuery out of your life. I also wrote, recorded, and edited the next JS Quick Hit tutorial, which of course went out to my email newsletter this morning and will go live on the site next Wednesday.
Mainly, though, I hammered on the sample mobile app we'll be creating in my upcoming React Native tutorial. I'll be handing it off to some close friends to take a look at later today, and I'm sure they'll find a ton of stuff that I'll need to work on next week, but I'm also sure we're getting close to the point where I can work on the tutorials themselves and start packaging this up. I'm tentatively scheduling the course release for sometime in June, which is exciting! That's not far away!
That's about all I've got. If you've been following this blog for a while, thanks! I'm going to be ramping up how much tweeting I do about CloseBrace both at @closebracejs and @cwbuecheler. I'm also planning on producing more email content, so get on that weekly list now to learn more about that in the coming weeks.
